Ryan Tannehill has Believers…

NEWS
Ryan Tannehill is at a disadvantage in more than one way. He did not get to showcase his abilities at the Senior Bowl and will not be on display at the NF L combine because he is recovering from a broker foot. Tannehill also started just 19 games at Texas A & M. The 6’4′, 220 lb QB has excellent athleticism and tons of promise, however. Tannehill just announced that he will throw for teams on March 29th.
VIEWS
Albert Breer says that several teams have a higher rating for Tannehill than they had for either Blaine Gabbert or Christian Ponder last year.
A growing number of people believe the Redskins are going to outbid for the #2 spot and Robert Griffin and that they will turn to Tannehill. Matt De Lima is among those people. Here in his FFToolbox mock draft he has the Redskins perhaps reaching a bit for Tannehill at #6 overall.
Drafttek.com has Tannehill lasting to the second round, but admit that way things are moving he is likely a first round selection.
FANTASY FOOTBALL SPIN
Part of the new buzz is that we now that the Texas A&M QB will throw on March 29th. Another reason for people to be speculating is that Mike Mayock, the guy we trust most, has come out and said that he believes Tannehill will go in the first round. It’s difficult to picture the Redskins entering the 2012 season without a new QB. It’s almost as difficult picturing them managing to out maneuver the Browns to get RGIII. Peyton Manning is an option, but there are a lot of variables there…will Manning be healthy for one. We also wonder if Shanahan would prefer a young QB to start over with and we also know that Shanahan likes a QB that can move the pocket, roll out, and throw on the run – not exactly Manning’s strengths.
Tannehill makes a ton of sense for the Redskins. There could be a lot of movement between now and draft day for Tannehill. He’s the clear number three QB right now. He’s moved from a guy who was thought of a second round pick to almost certainly a first round pick. While it seems now like the Redskins can trade down out of the top 10 and still get Tannehill, that may not be the case in a couple months.
